Oven Toasted Italian Sandwich
One of the best restaurants on the Microsoft campus is an Italian sandwich place that cooks your sandwich in a wood-fired oven. Now since our apartment complex didn't have a model that came built in with a wood-fired oven, I decided to cook up my italian sandwich in a traditional oven. Once we're billionaires, we'll have a wood-fired oven in our house.
Preheat your "normal" oven to around 250, and start heating up a pan with plenty of olive oil. Slice up a small red onion and get that sizzling. Add in 1/3 lb per person of bulk ground spicy italian sausage. After that has cooked for a minute, add sliced red pepper into pan along with a little sprinkle of crushed red pepper and oregano.
When the meat is cooked, put all the grilled goodness into a sliced potato bun. Place a few slices of cheese and sliced tomato on top. Pour on a little more oregano and then wrap the sandwich in aluminum foil and pop it into the oven for 5 minutes.
It's incredible.
